Zum ersten Mal in der mehr als 25-jährigen Geschichte der Fondation Beyeler werden das gesamte Museum und der umliegende Park zum Schauplatz einer experimentellen Präsentation zeitgenössischer Kunst. Mit Beiträgen von Michael Armitage, Anne Boyer, Federico Campagna, Ian Cheng, Chuquimamani-Condori und Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, Marlene Dumas, Frida Escobedo, Peter Fischli, Cyprien Gaillard mit Victor Man, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Wade Guyton, Carsten Höller mit Adam Haar, Pierre Huyghe, Arthur Jafa, Koo Jeong A, Dozie Kanu, Cildo Meireles, Jota Mombaça, Fujiko Nakaya, Alice Notley, Precious Okoyomon, Philippe Parreno, Rachel Rose, Tino Sehgal, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Ramdane Touhami und Adrián Villar Rojas. Die Ausstellung versteht sich als ein «lebender Organismus», der sich verändert und wandelt. Verbindungen und Verflechtungen zwischen einzelnen Arbeiten werden in einem engen Dialog mit den Künstler:innen entwickelt. Dieser Austausch wird ausserdem auf Werke aus der hauseigenen Sammlung ausgedehnt, die integraler Bestandteil des Projekts sind. Während eine Vielzahl der Gemälde, Skulpturen, Filme, Installationen und Performances ortsspezifisch entstehen, handelt es sich bei anderen um angepasste Versionen bereits existierender Arbeiten. Die Ausstellung wird von der Fondation Beyeler in Zusammenarbeit mit der LUMA Stiftung realisiert. Konzipiert von Sam Keller, Mouna Mekouar, Isabela Mora, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Precious Okoyomon, Philippe Parreno und Tino Sehgal in enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Mitwirkenden. Projekt Team Fondation Beyeler: Angelika Bühler, Dorothee Dines, Ulrike Erbslöh, Markus Gross, Iris Hasler, Matthias Kohler, Michiko Kono, Ben Ludwig, Regula Moser, Christoph Thüer, David Vogt and Steffen Zarutzki.

The story takes place during the Trojan War: Neoptolemus and Odysseus attempt to bring the disabled Philoctetes, the master archer, with them to Troy. The scenes are performed by actors from Aquila and a chorus of recent veterans. Peter Meineck, Associate Professor of Classics at New York University, and founder of Aquila Theatre Company, moderates a discussion following the performance.
